Created for the disciples and aspiring disciples of His Holiness Radhanath Swami
December 6, 2014
Dear Gurudev, HH Radhanath Swami Maharaja,
Please accept my most humble obeisances at your divine lotus feet. All glories to your dear Gurudev HDG Srila Prabhupada. All glories to your heart and soul Sri Gouranga Mahaprabhu.
I saw you first time at your dear disciple HG Gourahari Prabhu’s house when I was studying in a college in Mumbai. I was not aware of ISKCON at that time, and I had no appreciation of your stature too. When I came to Pune for a job, your extraordinarily kind disciple HG Avatari Chaitanya Prabhu introduced me to the Bhagavad Gita. He pulled me to a house program at your very senior disciple HG Jaidev Prabhu’s house. There I fell in love with your disciple HG Radheshyam Pr’s Bhagavad Gita classes. And then Avatari Chaitanya Prabhu pulled me into the gentle atmosphere of your disciple HG Jai Narsimha Prabhu’s councilor group. Meanwhile I got introduced to one of your most extraordinary disciples, HG Chaitanya Charan Prabhu, who has literally given me a lifetime of service in the form of writing for the BTG and writing as an outreach activity. I now realize that my spiritual journey has always been full of your grace in the form of your disciples.
I realize that your grace is always available, in the form of your indescribably sweet and deep lectures, in the form of your disciples, and in the form of the systems you have instituted for taking care of devotees. It’s up to me to take shelter of this grace. It’s up to me to see all ISKCON activities as part of this grace and engage in them with sincerity. My material conditionings are holding me back, but taking shelter of this grace is the only way out.
Dear Guru Maharaja, your constant emphasis on humility, tolerance, and sincere service inspires me the most. You are the embodiment of these qualities; you have lived all your life in this mood. Despite that, you, and your disciples, are considerate of my shortcomings. You focus on uplifting my consciousness; the service will follow as a result. This approach can take a lot of time to produce results. But not only are you unimaginably patient, you are also divinely empowered to elevate consciousness of others in a remarkably less amount of time.
For me, you are Srila Prabhupada’s instructions in action. When I read Srila Prabhupada’s books, I find your message of humility, tolerance, simplicity, and loving service in those divine books. Earlier I used to find only philosophy - Vedanta, but now I also find Bhakti. Dear Guru Maharaja, you have revealed Srila “Bhakti-Vedanta” Swami to me; for that I will be ever grateful to you.
My connection with you is strongest through whatever little service I do to your disciples and other devotees. A few years ago I was fortunate to get the opportunity to write many tiny articles for your websites. I cherish those days. HG Chaitanya Charan Pr has been asking me to write for the BTG International; I would like to write one article a month, please empower me so if you think it’s appropriate. By your grace, I got involved in another special service. HG Vrindavan Prabhu instructed me to translate some Srila Tukaram Maharaj’s abhangas into English. His kindness has touched my heart. He has told me that you have read some of those translations, and that is quite easily the highest point in my life. More recently, by some inconceivable arrangement, I have been asked to write one article every year for the TOVP project. My hair stand on end and a thrill rushes through my spine when I realize that I am doing some tangible service, no matter how insignificant, for Lord Gouranga’s home. Your disciples involved in the TOVP project are guiding me. I believe that my strongest and most tangible service to ISKCON will be my writing. If you think this is appropriate, kindly empower me to become a sincere instrument in the hands of your servants.
Dear Gurudev, let my appreciation for you grow every day. Let me realize your transcendental position. And let me become a sincere and serious disciple of yours.
Ajit Nimai das
